I would prefer to give them no stars, but the system won't let me. I met with their sales people, did all the paperwork, and was told it would be installed in 3 month. I had a contract with them, paid my down payment immediately, and they disappeared. After 3 months I started asking questions and was put off again and again. At 6 months I asked for a refund since no work had been done and I couldn't find anything having been purchased for the project based on the Basecamp updates. I have asked again and again; they won't even return phone calls. And now they have declared bankruptcy. I doubt if I will ever get my money back. I would consider them criminals.

Over two years ago I contracted with Able energy for 4kW solar installation. It still has not passed the required inspection mainly because Able Energy ignored the safety warnings regarding fire danger that the inverter manufacturer provides. And the "Wattscanner" they claim to have developed turned out to be a tool developed without their input at all. In fact..they were unable to get mine to accurately reflect what the panels were actually producing. Finally..most of their positive reviews were faked before I forced them to remove them and provided enough information for services like Google and Yelp to determine that employees..and the owner..had posted them. There are plenty of honest solar installers out there. If I had known that Able Energy was faking the vast majority of their positive reviews I would have kept looking and not wasted my time and money on Able.

Awful. Like others posting reviews online, they have stolen a $12,000 deposit and are completely unresponsive. It's clear they have no intention of returning the money or doing the work, nor can they as their license has expired. If the number Mike Harvey provided of 40 Made in Minnesota customers is accurate, and $12,000 the standard deposit, they have $480,000 from Made in Minnesota customers alone.

I signed a contract with Able Energy to install solar panels on my home in December of 2016. I still have no sign of any panels being installed on my roof despite the fact that I have made regular payments. My last payment was in January of last year and they still have made no progress on my installation. Broken promises, lack of communication, total incompetence as far as I'm concerned. Of all the businesses I have dealt with in 30 years as a homeowner, this is the worst.

Run from this company which also operates as Sun Badger Solar. New address: 3756 Dunlap Street N., Arden Hills, MN 55112. We are out $7K as of last April, 2017. Haven't seen anything! There are about 14 customers in the Duluth, MN area, and none of us have seen anything of our collective $200K!!!

They talk a good line, but don't deliver. I paid July 2017 and still don't have any word on my install and it's 9 months later

Signed agreement with them in March 2017. Paid over 13 thousand then as well. They never delivered, just took my money. Run from this company.

What To Look For In A Solar Installer?

When looking for a solar installer, it's essential to consider various factors to ensure you choose a reputable and competent company that meets your needs.

When selecting an installer like Able Energy Co. consider:

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Able Energy Co. solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:
