Karen of Blue Light Energy was very knowledgeable of the solar and electric service industry in Rhode Island. FYI - our electricity provider for the state changed so the transfer of processes and steps to follow to achieve the desired results were not simple as the knowledge base left with the previous provider. Karen of Blue Light Energy kept at it to achieve the final goal of which was the installation of solar panels with batteries with the appropriate tax credits, loans and benefits.

Blue light installed my second set of solar panels and worked with me through the whole process. The permitting process was lengthy and Blue Light fought on my behalf to get the system inspected and functioning. Time and again they went above and beyond.

Great experience. The install went very well. Crew was friendly well organized and obviously knew what they were doing. Mike Staab was involved from beginning to end making sure I was happy with everything. Electric bill has gone down to zero in the first month. I recommend Blue Light Energy to anyone looking to go solar.

Our criteria for a solar solution were “One Vendor / One Manufacturer” – Mike Staab and Karen Esposito of Blue Light Energy LLC delivered! Mike went above and beyond for customer service and support – we started planning a full year before the installation, and he was very instrumental in coordinating resources to incorporate the electrical requirements for the solar arrays into another construction project on our property. Karen designed an exceptional GENERAC solar power system to accommodate all our home requirements, including a the PWRCell battery backup. All through the process, Michael Staab and Karen Esposito were superb to work with, further affirming it was the right decision to use them as the solar vendor. For the installation, Karen coordinated with United Better Homes (certified GENERAC installer). The crew was professional and courteous, the installation went smoothly and without much interruption to our household. The best part was that when done, the system was almost inconspicuous. The solar arrays are tight to the structures and any conduit is on a “utility” side of the house. It is a very clean-looking installation from the street. With this project wrapping up, Karen is now our point of contact for any system questions or issues and has been great at getting to the bottom of anything that has come up. Everyone throughout our solar project was genuinely friendly and professional. Well done!

About 8 yeas ago, my sister and I were looking for solar for our homes, one house in Massachusetts and one in Rhode Island. We looked at all incentives available, federal and state, and compared a lot of different materials. She did all of the research and also vetted several solar companies It took about a year to decide on which company to use. During that year and after extensive research and clarity on the information she provided on incentives, materials, etc. we decided on a company. The company liked her so much that they offered her a sales position. In 2018, she created her own solar company "Blue Light Energy" because she wanted to provide a more customized service to her customers. I will be building a new house soon and will be using Blue Light Energy for my solar and storage needs. I am choosing Blue Light Energy not because of our family connection but because of their in-depth knowledge and customized service that her company provides.

The company I work for had over 300 solar panels installed on our roof in 2017. Our energy production was below expectations, and it became apparent that the panels were installed sloppily and incorrectly. The company that installed the panels bailed on us, but Blue Light Energy saved the day. Blue Light Energy tirelessly checked and corrected every connection on every panel, and did a lot of other work which was a little too technical for me to explain. I can't even estimate how many trips their staff made to our facility, or how many hours they spent on our roof. Today our solar energy production is four times higher than it was in 2018. Back in 2018 we were stuck. Our panels weren't performing and we didn't know what to do. Blue Light could have charged us a lot more than they did, but they were much more concerned about getting our panels working than taking advantage of us. They are great people to work with, knowledgeable and dedicated. Pete McCormick CFO ParsonsKellogg

What To Look For In A Solar Installer?

When looking for a solar installer, it's essential to consider various factors to ensure you choose a reputable and competent company that meets your needs.

When selecting an installer like Blue Light Energy consider:

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Blue Light Energy solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Certifications and Licenses:

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Quality Products and Technology:

Inquire about the types and brands of solar panels, inverters, and other equipment they use. Quality matters for long-term performance. Ask if they offer the latest solar technologies, such as high-efficiency panels or energy storage solutions.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on Blue Light Energy.

Multiple Quotes:

Don't hesitate to obtain quotes from multiple installers to compare pricing, services, and warranties. Hint: We can help!

Financing and Incentive Knowledge:

Ensure the installer is knowledgeable about available incentives, tax credits, rebates and financing options. At EnergyPal, we’ll help maximize your savings.

Safety Practices:

Confirm that the installer adheres to safety protocols during installation to protect both workers and your property.

By researching and considering these factors, you can select a reputable solar installer who will provide a quality solar energy system and a positive experience throughout the installation process. Connect with us to learn more about the best solar installers in your area.

Steps for Installing Solar Panels

  • Qualification: Contact solar companies through web forms, referrals, or flyers. Answer questions to determine eligibility.
  • System Design: Receive initial solar system design in a proposal. Review the design and consider panel placement, avoiding “under-sizing“ or “oversizing.“
  • Compare Quotes: Evaluate quotes, considering factors like monthly payments, power output, and system details. Seek guidance to simplify the comparison.
  • Contract Signing: Select a company and panel design, understand and sign the contract.
  • Site Survey: Technician assesses the site for solar panel installation, checking roof orientation and structural integrity.
  • Engineering: Behind-the-scenes process finalizes system layout, electrical configuration, and structural safety for permit submission.
  • Permitting: The company obtains necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Installation: Expert team mounts panels, installs wiring and inverters, connects the system to the grid.
  • System Activation: Request final inspections, obtain permission to operate (PTO) from the utility, and turn on the system. Monitoring apps track power generation. From a signed contract to installation and system activation this process can take two to six months to complete. Check out our article for a more indepth look into the solar installation process.
