Several features distinguish this company from the competition. You deal with Jim Reilly, the principal, rather than a salesman. He is very knowledgable, and answers questions honestly and directly. Once he's assessed your roof potential via the internet, he sends out a technician to actually measure the roof and the available light. He prepares you a quote only after he has this information. The other companies I received bids from just based their proposals on the internet data. Jim's bid was also the lowest. The installation crew was on-time, efficient and expert. The installation looks great. Jim's staff also handled all the permitting, coordination with BGE and application for SREC reimbursement. Jim's communication is excellent.

My wife and I are very happy with the solar system Celestial Solar installed for us. Not only was Jim extremely helpful throughout the process, but we might not have ever gotten solar if not for his approach at the outset: he did an analysis of our site and included estimated generation potential per by month, which allowed us to compare the system's potential generative capacity to our monthly use report from Pepco. Based on that, we could see that the proposed system would produce more power than we typically use during AC season, and even though the electricity produced during winter is significantly less, that doesn't really matter for us since our furnace, hot water heater, and clothes dryer all use natural gas, i.e. we don't use much electricity during the winter. Jim's willingness to provide an actual analysis was in stark contrast to another company we had contacted based on a neighbor's strong recommendation --- when I called that company to schedule a consult, all the person did was look at the satellite image of our property on Google Maps and said, "It's not worth it for you to install solar because of those trees in your neighbor's yard," and that was the end of it. By contrast, when I first talked with Jim, he acknowledged that the trees meant the site was perhaps not ideal, but he said something to the effect of, "but it's not obvious that those trees make solar not worth it, and the only way to really know is to do an analysis." After we decided to purchase a system, Jim also took the time to provide a revised proposal based on his team's on-site review of the existing electrical system components; the review showed that the existing system components could handle 4 additional panels (beyond what was originally proposed) without having to do any upgrades or modifications to the existing main panel or sub-panel. So while the overall cost increased slightly because of the additional panels, we maximized the generative capacity without adding costs associated with upgrading the existing electrical system. I very much appreciated the fact that Jim provided the revised proposal as an option for us to consider and did so without any pressure or sales pitch. Jim's overall professionalism and general willingness to answer any of my questions extended to everyone on his team. From the person who did the initial on-site review of the existing electrical system to the technician who returned after the main install to set up the monitoring system, from all 5 members of the installation team to the office manager, everyone was a pleasure to work with. We definitely recommend Celestial Solar.

He is also quick at responding to phone calls or emails, as well as following up with paperwork and engaging with third parties (inspectors, installers, power company, etc). The process overall was straightforward from my end, as Jim and co handled everything - design, installation, inspection, etc. I could not be happier with my system - it puts a smile on my face to see those black rectangles every time I come home.
