Vince was great to work with and very patient with all of my questions . He designed an attractive array and it looks great . Despite going right to the wire on NEM2 , he pushed me through in time.

When we began the process of shopping for solar panels, there was a lot of information coming at us, and it was a bit overwhelming. We gathered multiple independent quotes, and they were all over the map. We took a pause, and did a deep dive into educating ourselves on solar panel systems, and began our bidding process again on the EnergySage website. This time, we were able to cut through the sales speak to really line up a more apple to apple comparison of the bids we were receiving. Future Energy, and their point of contact Vince that I interacted with stood out from the rest at this point. Vince took the time to go over the design of the system with me, point by point. He answered all of my questions, and didn’t upsell anything. It was a refreshing change of pace, he was the straightest shooter I had dealt with in the bidding process by far. The contract we signed with Future Energy was clearly written, and all questions we had were answered in a timely manner. We quickly moved along to the installation day. The crew that Future Energy sent out for the install of our panels were on point. They worked quickly, and I was impressed with their professionalism. They finished the install in a single day, ran a clean job site, and were respectful to the property. When all was said and done, I really appreciated their attention to even the small details- for example, they asked if I had any touch up paint for the exterior color of our house. (I did). They used it to paint the small run of conduit they had installed on the exterior wall to match the color of our house. They did the same on the roof, painting any exposed conduit to color match the roof shingles. They didn’t have to do that, and it was a nice touch. Once the panels were installed, it takes awhile to get through the inspection and permitting process to finally receive Permission to Operate from the electric company. This part is a bit frustrating with its slow pace. As the owner, you can see your shiny new solar panels sitting on your roof, but months drag by before you get to see the actual benefit they provide reflected on your electric bill. Things are happening behind the scenes, with the installers handling communications with the electric company and county, but it’s a largely invisible process to the homeowner. I knocked one star off their rating for their responsiveness during this period- for a lot of the time I felt like I was in the dark as to where we were in the approval process. THAT SAID… Future Energy was handling everything behind the scenes in getting us through the approval process. No deadlines were missed, all paperwork was handled, and we didn’t have to jump in for any of that. Despite wondering at times where we stood in the process, it all came together smoothly and received our Permission To Operate with no problems. We’re very happy with our system, and I’m glad we chose Future Energy to work with. I’d recommend them to anyone, and will do business with them again when it comes time to upgrade our main panel.

After getting multiple quotes from Energy Sage and contacting additional installers on my own, I decided to move forward with Future Energy. Getting solar is big investment so I spoke with 9 different installers. After speaking with Vince he explained exactly what I needed but more importantly he explained what I didn’t need. Other companies tried to oversize the system and add additional components, Vince explained why that wasn’t needed. A week after signing the contract a Future Energy rep was at my home doing a site visit and taking measurements. It was at this time that I was informed that I needed to replace my roof in order to warranty the hardware and labor. The original roof was 23 years old so it was definitely time to replace. A couple weeks later Memo and his roofing crew were able to replace my roof in 5 days. The roof looks amazing and I would highly recommend Memo and his crew to replace any family members roof. Once the roof was installed it was time to install the panels. A crew of 4 showed up and were able to finish the entire install in one day. They installed exactly what was on my original contract unlike other companies that try to switch the panels at the last minute for older cheaper panels. The solar panels and breaker box look amazing and everything was buttoned up perfectly. They even pained all the conduit to match my home exterior. I am now up and running and could not be happier. I would highly recommend Future Energy to everyone. They say the best deals are the ones where both parties walk away happy, I am walking away very happy.

Future Energy has excellent customer service! Vince Downey explained everything about solar panels to us and was always available to answer any questions we had. We had another estimate and they gave us a quote for five more panels than Future Energy! Vince let us know when to expect the workers, their names, time of arrival and what they were going to do. Everyone was very polite, arrived on time, efficient and cleaned up. Our solar panels were installed March 31 and our solar panels were turned on April 15! Wow!!!! We're very happy we chose Future Energy.

If you want a company that over promises and under delivers, then sign up with Future energy today. My wife and I wanted to get solar panels put on our house before the April 14th dealine of NEM 2.0. During the quoting process, Vince apologized for the lack of communication since he was so busy. I asked him straight out if he was too busy to help me before the deadline. If he was, I could go to another company. Vince assured me that it would be no issue, and I could sign the contracts before the deadline. They came to my house and took pictures with the drone to make the drawings, and that was the last I heard from them for months. I attempted getting ahold of Vince over text, and there was no response. I figured they were just busy, but since I already signed up it would be fine. Fast forward a few months, and Vince tells me there is nothing they can do. Whatever I signed isn't going to help me. As a consolation prize, they will give me a Enphase battery at cost... which is $11,000... If you do end up working with this company, which you shouldnt, definitely get someone besides Vince.

What To Look For In A Solar Installer?

When looking for a solar installer, it's essential to consider various factors to ensure you choose a reputable and competent company that meets your needs.

When selecting an installer like Future Energy consider:

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Future Energy solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Certifications and Licenses:

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Quality Products and Technology:

Inquire about the types and brands of solar panels, inverters, and other equipment they use. Quality matters for long-term performance. Ask if they offer the latest solar technologies, such as high-efficiency panels or energy storage solutions.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on Future Energy.

Multiple Quotes:

Don't hesitate to obtain quotes from multiple installers to compare pricing, services, and warranties. Hint: We can help!

Financing and Incentive Knowledge:

Ensure the installer is knowledgeable about available incentives, tax credits, rebates and financing options. At EnergyPal, we’ll help maximize your savings.

Safety Practices:

Confirm that the installer adheres to safety protocols during installation to protect both workers and your property.

By researching and considering these factors, you can select a reputable solar installer who will provide a quality solar energy system and a positive experience throughout the installation process. Connect with us to learn more about the best solar installers in your area.

Steps for Installing Solar Panels

  • Qualification: Contact solar companies through web forms, referrals, or flyers. Answer questions to determine eligibility.
  • System Design: Receive initial solar system design in a proposal. Review the design and consider panel placement, avoiding “under-sizing“ or “oversizing.“
  • Compare Quotes: Evaluate quotes, considering factors like monthly payments, power output, and system details. Seek guidance to simplify the comparison.
  • Contract Signing: Select a company and panel design, understand and sign the contract.
  • Site Survey: Technician assesses the site for solar panel installation, checking roof orientation and structural integrity.
  • Engineering: Behind-the-scenes process finalizes system layout, electrical configuration, and structural safety for permit submission.
  • Permitting: The company obtains necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Installation: Expert team mounts panels, installs wiring and inverters, connects the system to the grid.
  • System Activation: Request final inspections, obtain permission to operate (PTO) from the utility, and turn on the system. Monitoring apps track power generation. From a signed contract to installation and system activation this process can take two to six months to complete. Check out our article for a more indepth look into the solar installation process.
