Tim and his team were great! From the moment they contacted me they made me feel like I was a valued customer. They took the time to come out and talk to me about the whole process. If I ever had any questions he was always assuring me that I could call, text or email him. He gave me an incredible price that beat out many competitors I had talked to. He is an honest business owner and a veteran (an added bonus) He doesn't do subpar work he uses quality products and is at every install. This is one of the few solar companies that has been around for 10 years and they were able to provide referrals from previous jobs, which made me feel a lot better about where my money was going. His sales rep was a nice young man he was always available to talk and would occasionally check up on me. I never felt pressured by them to buy, which made the experience comfortable. He was also very quick from the time I signed to installation took about 3 weeks! Would definitely recommend Golden State Solar to anyone looking for solar! Thank you TIm!

Our experience with Golden State Solar was excellent. The install crew was very detailed and even found problems on my roof that had been there prior to inspection. Tim clearly communicated the process and answered all our questions thoroughly. He even called after installation to make sure there were no problems. I would highly recommend his company to anyone ready to start saving on their electricity bill!

Design, installation, timing and price were all exactly as predicted. Installer made a follow up visit two days later just to assure system was working as expected. Turned 78 degree water into 87 degree water. Very, very pleased.

I hired Golden State Solar after many of my neighbors had used him. He was prompt, courteous, and his price was great. They showed up each day on time and were ready to work. He has now done 6 homes on our court and we are all very happy with the results. I would recommend anyone to hire this company.

We're so glad we found Tim and Golden State Solar! There are so many solar companies that have gone out of business in the last few years it was good to find one that has been in business for 10 years with a good CSLB standing. After getting quotes from 3 others companies, it was truly a refreshing experience. Where other companies would try to lock you with one PV Solar Panel manufacturer, or in one system size, Tim went over multiple different systems with us, explaining the pro and cons for each. Tim then sized our system according to our historical PG&E data. We had a tiny 100 amp panel that would not work with the system so for the price of the materials and permit ($750) he changed it out to a 200 amp panel. Something that would normally cost us $2500-$3000. Tim was always prompt to answer our texts, calls, and email questions, and we really enjoyed his positive energy and positive attitude. He's a funny guy.

Based on a lot of research that we did and also thanks to Tim's advice We decided to go with the high efficiency Solaria panels, with SolarEdge optimizers and inverter. According to Tim's calculation we'll break even in about 6 years (we purchased our system), most likely sooner since PG&E keeps increasing their rates.

Golden State Solar gave us a 10 year craftsmanship warranty and the panels and microinverters have a 25 years manufacturer warranty.

Golden State Solar was the most competitive in terms of pricing, especially on a high efficiency system we chose.
Golden State Solar also has a full time crew with a journeyman electrician so nothing gets given to a subcontractor. Tim also was a the job everyday to oversee construction and they were always on time.
Our first meeting with Tim was on May 3rd.

We hired him and signed the contract on May 4th.

Tim posted the permits on may 7th.

The material for the job arrived at our home on May 9th.

Tim and his crew showed up on May 14th and were done and passed final inspection on the May 16th.

On the 19th we received the PTO letter from PG&E and Tim came right out and turned on the system on a Saturday! He also stayed to show us how to operate the breakers, and other turn off devices. He also installed the Monitoring app on our computer and phone then showed us how to use it. So in total in 16 days we were free from PGE insane rate increases. Thats amazing! All other companies were 4 to 6 weeks and much more expensive.

In summary Golden State Solar was awesome from start to finish, Tim perfectly designed our system, was the only sales rep to actually go on the roof and check everything, he even came back twice after installation was complete to make sure that everything was fine.

Great local company that I can't recommend enough!!

When selecting an installer like Golden State Solar consider:

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Golden State Solar solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Certifications and Licenses:

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Quality Products and Technology:

Inquire about the types and brands of solar panels, inverters, and other equipment they use. Quality matters for long-term performance. Ask if they offer the latest solar technologies, such as high-efficiency panels or energy storage solutions.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on Golden State Solar.

Multiple Quotes:

Ensure the installer is knowledgeable about available incentives, tax credits, rebates and financing options. At EnergyPal, we’ll help maximize your savings.

Safety Practices:

Confirm that the installer adheres to safety protocols during installation to protect both workers and your property.

By researching and considering these factors, you can select a reputable solar installer who will provide a quality solar energy system and a positive experience throughout the installation process. Connect with us to learn more about the best solar installers in your area.

Steps for Installing Solar Panels

 • Qualification: Contact solar companies through web forms, referrals, or flyers. Answer questions to determine eligibility.
 • System Design: Receive initial solar system design in a proposal. Review the design and consider panel placement, avoiding “under-sizing“ or “oversizing.“
 • Compare Quotes: Evaluate quotes, considering factors like monthly payments, power output, and system details. Seek guidance to simplify the comparison.
 • Contract Signing: Select a company and panel design, understand and sign the contract.
 • Site Survey: Technician assesses the site for solar panel installation, checking roof orientation and structural integrity.
 • Engineering: Behind-the-scenes process finalizes system layout, electrical configuration, and structural safety for permit submission.
 • Permitting: The company obtains necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
 • Installation: Expert team mounts panels, installs wiring and inverters, connects the system to the grid.
 • System Activation: Request final inspections, obtain permission to operate (PTO) from the utility, and turn on the system. Monitoring apps track power generation.
