We have the solar and battery backup system since August 2020 and We’re still testing it and tracking data. We need few more months to get a good picture of the return on the battery backup system within the entire investment, besides an emergency use. I can say that the battery CA rebate program for the battery is very complex and a bad point of incentive for battery purchase, because the process is complex and the prospect of getting the rebate is disappointing. On the good side, the Generac system we installed is very neat in looks and the specs beat Tesla’s in few points, especially scalability. GotWatts staff were excellent, no exception, and they exceeded expectation. We had unique situations, with our thinner roof tiles that cracked easily, and some panels had minor defects in the frame due to manufacturer packaging. GotWatts offered us multiple reasonable resolutions, with professionalism, and all was resolved to our complete satisfaction. The project lagged due to the dis-ease in the social and business life in the last year, and we are grateful to the team to work with us at every opportunity. I would recommend anyone local to the Bay Area to have his system installed by GotWatts. The great team who worked with us are: Jeremy and his team James, Alex, Brian, Cody, Sam and Lindsay.

My job was not an easy one and they took the time to put together a program with a lot of attention to detail. I used them for both an electrical upgrade as well as a full solar array. The job turned out great. I love that they are electricians first so they really k is what they are doing. Highly recommend the Got Watts team!

Got Watts was terrific from the first phone call. Extremely professional and fun. We had a total of five bids of which three companies were using the exact equipment and Got Watts gave us the most for our dollars.

The installation was a wonderful job with no panels visible from the street and a thorough cleanup.

We found the advice of Jeremy to be great, he certainly was not trying to upsell things we did not need and found him to be very truthful and knowledgeable about hiss product lines. The solar panel install was done in 3 hours, the inverter wiring took a few hours more only. They also did a bunch of electrical repairs including replacing our 70 year old sub panel and many circuits throughout the house. All the work was done well, I would have no issue recommending this company to anyone.

I selected Got Watts Electric & Solar to install a residential solar system on my house in Antioch. My experience with Got Watts was professional and informative from start to finish. Most communication was by email which I like more than phone calls because it provides a information to reference. The price was not the lowest but it was near the lower end. But the panels and equipment were superior to the lower quoted systems. When I needed a sub panel put in, Got Watts included it in the price. It was not so with other quotes. The sub-panel they put in has expansion capabilities and wouldn't if they had gone with the minimum needed. The solar panels they offer include top of the line. The system includes monitoring the performance of the individual panels, not just the system. They took care of all the permits, setup, inspections and submitting paperwork to PG&E. They replaced some cracked roof tiles that had been bonded together with good ones removed from where the solar rack was installed to hold the panels. I highly recommend Got Watts.

We were so delighted with Got Watts Solar Installation that we decided to have an Open House at our Countrywood HOA. Besides the beautiful job on our Solar Array, the installation of the EV charger, Inverter, Monitor was done inside the garage was aesthetically pleasing. The Got Watts Team was professional and meticulous in the execution of every work detail. Material was top quality and state of the art. Their design recommendations saved us significantly on cost and time. Thanks to Got Watts for a terrific job all around.

After getting proposals from two other solar companies I discovered that Got Watts has extremely high user reviews so I contacted them. They are not "hard sellers" like the solar only companies. We talked through details (different manufacturers and their warranties) and contingencies (what if my electric needs increase?), they provided a very competitive estimate, and last week the solar panels were installed. So far everything is great and I feel like I can call them any time if I need to and they will be responsive and helpful.

Got Watts installed a solar PV roof system and we are very happy with it. This is the second time that we have used Got Watts and both times, we could not have asked for a better experience. Jeremy's quote was lower than his competitors. He answered all my questions and was very flexible when asked to make changes in the design. System installation started less than 2 weeks after contract signing; Solar City quoted a 3-5 month wait. The install crew was very professional and completed the entire installation of 22 panels in 2 days. Shelby and Lindsay handled the PG&E and Concord City papwork and were very responsive to questions. We highly recommend Got Watts for general electrical and solar work.

What To Look For In A Solar Installer?

When looking for a solar installer, it's essential to consider various factors to ensure you choose a reputable and competent company that meets your needs.

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Got Watts Electric solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Certifications and Licenses:

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on Got Watts Electric.

Multiple Quotes:

Financing and Incentive Knowledge:

Ensure the installer is knowledgeable about available incentives, tax credits, rebates and financing options. At EnergyPal, we’ll help maximize your savings.

Safety Practices:

Confirm that the installer adheres to safety protocols during installation to protect both workers and your property.

By researching and considering these factors, you can select a reputable solar installer who will provide a quality solar energy system and a positive experience throughout the installation process. Connect with us to learn more about the best solar installers in your area.

Steps for Installing Solar Panels

 • Qualification: Contact solar companies through web forms, referrals, or flyers. Answer questions to determine eligibility.
 • System Design: Receive initial solar system design in a proposal. Review the design and consider panel placement, avoiding “under-sizing“ or “oversizing.“
 • Compare Quotes: Evaluate quotes, considering factors like monthly payments, power output, and system details. Seek guidance to simplify the comparison.
 • Contract Signing: Select a company and panel design, understand and sign the contract.
 • Site Survey: Technician assesses the site for solar panel installation, checking roof orientation and structural integrity.
 • Engineering: Behind-the-scenes process finalizes system layout, electrical configuration, and structural safety for permit submission.
 • Permitting: The company obtains necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
 • Installation: Expert team mounts panels, installs wiring and inverters, connects the system to the grid.
 • System Activation: Request final inspections, obtain permission to operate (PTO) from the utility, and turn on the system. Monitoring apps track power generation.
