Summary: If you are thinking about installing solar, I would put NW Wind and Solar at the top of your list when looking for someone to do your install. Great communication with all employee levels including Office management, Billing, install supervisor and electricians.

Details: The install of our 12 kW solar system (40 iTek panels and SolarEdge Inverter) in Sequim, WA started on a Monday and ended on a Thursday as scheduled. The three man install team arrived on-time every day and left our garage cleaner than it was before they started work. Eric and his crew went the extra mile to make sure everything was installed to code and that the Panels, Inverter and electrical conduit was as aesthetically pleasing as possible. I could tell that they all worked well together as a team and really enjoy what they are doing for the environment.

We received quotes from NW Wind and Solar and one other Solar installer. It was an easy decision to go with NW Wind and Solar because they offered more panels for less cost and didn't try to sell us on other products like insulation, mold barrier, etc.

It's 9:00am, partly cloudy and the inverter is already putting out 5.6 kW and the meter is spinning backwards. Doesn't get much better than that.

Cons: Having to clean the other half of the garage to make it as clean as NW Wind and Solar left the side they used during the install.

NW Wind & Solar did an excellent job installing our system. Devin walked us through the initial process and provided very detailed answers to all of my questions which was one of the deciding factors in choosing them for the job. We had concerns about installing over tile roof but everything was done without any problems. Dickson and the rest of the install crew did great work and our array is up and running just in time for summer. I'm recommending them to everyone I know.

After careful consideration and receiving 4 quotes from Seattle Metro Solar Suppliers we are very pleased with NW Wind & Solar. Their team consisting of a sales representative Max coming out to our home to evaluate the site location and providing a proposal. Shortly after reviewing their proposal we had lots of followup questions which Max and Dickson, Project Manager replied promptly every time. After making the final decision to proceed with NW Wind & Solar, Jim and his crew coordinated the installation. Jim and each of the installers listened to our concerns during the installation process including installing the racking and panels on our 4 year old Modern Seattle home with a TPO flat roof system. They made sure the fit and finish was top notch! Overall, we highly recommend NW Wind & Solar because they care about the products they offer, install, competitive/fair pricing and taking care of their customers!

We decided that due to the potential for the various rebates for solar energy to start disappearing it was time to look into solar energy. Living in the "Great NorthWet" I had concerns with the actual ability for a residential system to work well enough to pay for itself.

We contact three companies, and decided to go with NW Wind and Solar for two main reasons; the positive interface we had with the company and the final project cost. For what seemed to be like for like systems, they came in $1-2K less.

Our system was installed in a very professional manner, and it was a pleasure to deal with Max, Dickson and the installation crew. The were minimally disruptive, arrived on time and completed the project on time. Really what more could we have asked for!

Our soloar system was installed a year and a half ago by NW Wind & Solar, and so far is working great. The whole experience from first meeting Paul Higuchi and getting an estimate, through the installation, was a great experience. And they stay intouch to make sure there aren't any issues.

My wife and I choose this company to install a solar setup on our property. I was extremely happy with both Paul and Dickson, both delivered 100% on the contract, the installers were great, and we couldn't be happier with how its working. I had other companies give me estimates, and based on the warranties and the prices, we choose NW Wind&Solar, but the professional conduct and the the final product would have made it easy to choose this company again, I will definately recommend them to my frends and family.

What To Look For In A Solar Installer?

When looking for a solar installer, it's essential to consider various factors to ensure you choose a reputable and competent company that meets your needs.

When selecting an installer like NW Wind & Solar consider:

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest NW Wind & Solar solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Certifications and Licenses:

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Quality Products and Technology:

Inquire about the types and brands of solar panels, inverters, and other equipment they use. Quality matters for long-term performance. Ask if they offer the latest solar technologies, such as high-efficiency panels or energy storage solutions.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on NW Wind & Solar.

Multiple Quotes:

Don't hesitate to obtain quotes from multiple installers to compare pricing, services, and warranties. Hint: We can help!

Financing and Incentive Knowledge:

Ensure the installer is knowledgeable about available incentives, tax credits, rebates and financing options. At EnergyPal, we’ll help maximize your savings.

Safety Practices:

Confirm that the installer adheres to safety protocols during installation to protect both workers and your property.

By researching and considering these factors, you can select a reputable solar installer who will provide a quality solar energy system and a positive experience throughout the installation process. Connect with us to learn more about the best solar installers in your area.

 • Qualification: Contact solar companies through web forms, referrals, or flyers. Answer questions to determine eligibility.
 • System Design: Receive initial solar system design in a proposal. Review the design and consider panel placement, avoiding “under-sizing“ or “oversizing.“
 • Compare Quotes: Evaluate quotes, considering factors like monthly payments, power output, and system details. Seek guidance to simplify the comparison.
 • Contract Signing: Select a company and panel design, understand and sign the contract.
 • Site Survey: Technician assesses the site for solar panel installation, checking roof orientation and structural integrity.
 • Engineering: Behind-the-scenes process finalizes system layout, electrical configuration, and structural safety for permit submission.
 • Permitting: The company obtains necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
 • Installation: Expert team mounts panels, installs wiring and inverters, connects the system to the grid.
 • System Activation: Request final inspections, obtain permission to operate (PTO) from the utility, and turn on the system. Monitoring apps track power generation.
