We bought a house in 2018 with preinstalled purchased Solar from SunRun, who was still responsible for servicing warranty issues. Side note: SUNRUN IS THE WORST!! I got so fed up with them after over a year of trying to get our system with dwindling performance working right (3 1/2 hour hold times, no calls back for messages left, service tickets closed without notifying me, at least a month to get an appointment if I got that far...I have unnecessarily spent over $1100 through August this year on electricity bills). So I went through the manufacturer, Enlighten, and participated in their legacy upgrade program to upgrade the micro-inverters for my system to hopefully fix the performance problems. They have Palomar Solar listed as a Platinum Installer so I hired them to install the upgraded items and they will manage my warranty moving forward (thank GOD no more sunrun!) I'm so glad I found this company!! The crew just left and they were awesome! Very friendly group of guys who showed me the new equipment and explained everything, I'm so happy!  I learned that you can only have 17 panels max on 1 string, and Sunrun had installed 20 on ours originally (9 years ago), so SunRun's recent solution to this (on one of the occasions I was actually able to get them out here to NOT resolve anything) was to UNPLUG 3 OF OUR PANELS WITHOUT TELLING ME!! I can't even... So now I have a whole new box complete with envoy (which I didn't have before), two strings with 10 panels on each (I can even add panels now if I want to), new micro-inverters, and a new company who actually responds to me to help if/when something goes wrong. Thank you so much Palomar Solar! I'm so mad at SunRun but so happy I found you guys.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: With all the hype in the solar marketplace it was nice to do business with a firm that was very straightforward from the first meeting to the final signoff. Hiring a solar company is a big step for most people as it was for us. We immediately had confidence in the firm because of how it was professionally represented by Bowie Rozema. DUE DILIGENCE There were multiple concerns we had going into our search including 1.) What is the reputation of the firm? 2.) Will we have enough solar power to satisfy our needs now and in the future (right equipment/configuration)? 3.) Is the proposed system priced fairly? 4.) Will the installation be done on time and right the first time? 5.) What warranties will they provide and will they have the customer service required to support us in the long haul? We had proposals from multiple solar firms and were confident that Palomar’s pricing was competitive and the proposed system would be adequate for our needs. INSTALLATION Over the day-and-a-half their installation team was here they were polite, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves. Because of their stature in the marketplace and their longevity we are convinced that Palomar Solar will be a strong partner for us not only now but in the future. Thanks, guys!

Palomar Solar responded immediately to our call. Impressed right off the bat. Adam came to my place of business and discussed our options. After receiving the required permit from SDG&E, Palomar Solar was very quick to get everything installed 1 day before our Christmas party. I was referred to Palomar Solar from 2 friends that recently used Palomar in Bonita. So glad we listened to them.

I interviewed several , local only companies, based on thorough research and chose Palomar Solar. They were professional, on time , on budget, even though they needed to do more work on my roof than anticipated. The company does not require any payment except $1,000.00 deposit unit the panels are installed , functioning and inspected. They were on one the few companies that offered individual inverters on every high quality panel, and 24/7 central computer monitoring. At some point they sent me an email alerting me that my system wasn't generating enough electricity, so I had to adjust the breaker .<br />We installed 50 panels so it was a huge investment . Fortunately, we chose the right people. I get thrilled watching my meter spinning backwards!

All Solar panels are going to generate kWh. What matters is the company you do business with, their integrity and their quality. We are very pleased with the team at Palomar Solar and their results. From the initial sales call, to the project coordinators, to the installers; the project went smoothly and communications were consistent and timely. We had 30 panels installed with micro-inverters and the process was fast and clean. Additionally, my concerns over the roof tiles were not an issue, as they handled all repairs, leaving the job site in perfect condition. I've project managed many contractors in my life and Palomar gets my best rating for performance and results.

Wow!!! I highly recommend Palomar Solar. In my line of work, we are very fickle on who we conduct business with. Palomar Solar was the only company I vetted as OUTSTANDNG. No high pressure sales. Just straight upfront honesty. An eye ball and a handshake. The way business should be conducted. Andy was very helpful in educating me about solar systems (kw size), solar panels, inverters (myths/truths), installation equipment, monitoring service and product warranties. Most solar companies want to sell you a system that is too big for your kw usage. This in the long run can be very costly. Palomar Solar expertly tailors the system for your exact needs. In addition, Andy discussed with me ways to fund my solar system (pros/cons-lease vs. buying). All this information, along with federal tax rebate and netmetering, greatly enhanced my knowledge on solar. Andy openly and confidently talked about the reputation of his company (great organizational culture). One-Stop-Shop! No subs! All-in-house operation, where every one is made accountable for their work ethic. Andy, Roxanne, Anthony Justin and the installation crew were very professional, caring, polite and helpful (I felt like family). They took pride in their workmanship and had fun doing it. The installation was done in record time (very clean and pleasing to the eyes). When it comes to selecting solar companies, why try the rest, when you can have the best?

I did my homework on solar systems and solar companies. I contacted the top five solar companies. Surprisingly, Palomar was the only company that came to my house and gave me a presentation. Three companies gave me a quote by email and one told me a sales rep would call me. He never called me. Tracy came to the house and was great. If I ever had any questions during the processes, she was very easy to get a hold of. She did not pressure us and was never pushy. Sullivan Only uses string inverters and will bad mouth micro inverters. I wanted micro inverters. My neighbor used Baker Electric and convinced us to give them another chance. Both Palomar and Baker use LG Panels and Enphase inverters. Enphase has online monitoring for your panels. With Baker you have to pay a couple of hundred bucks up front for the monitoring and keep renewing every 5yrs for about $500. With Palomar the monitoring is free for the life of your system. The system has a 25yr warranty. Baker will charge you labor after 10yrs to replace any parts under warranty. Palomar has 25yr warranty on parts & labor.<br />I eventually met Adam, who is one of the co-founders. He is very down to earth. Turned out someone from my work used Palomar Solar about a year ago. She is very happy with their results. I chose Palomar Solar because of good reviews from Yelp, Angie's list, quality products and their professionalism.<br />The crew who installed the system was great. One of the owners also came to the house and did some work. They all were very nice, respectful and consciences about their work. I did not finance the system, so after the system was installed and passed inspection from the city, I was surprised that Palomar Solar did not pressure me for the payment. They waited until I received permission from SDG&E to turn on my System. When I received the email from SDG&E giving me permission to turn on the system, Tracy told me to make sure I was happy and everything worked ok. It is great to see my electric meter running backwards during the day. After a few days, I gladly wrote them a check. I highly recommend Palomar Solar.

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Palomar Solar & Roofing solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on Palomar Solar & Roofing.
