The owner of this company is very knowledgable. He helped me determined what I needed vs wanted. His recommendations were great. I have not even hit the peak times of the year and I have a credit of $156.

Really glad I found this gem among all the solar companies out there!
I have been researching solar panels for several years, and the
economics didn't make sense for me until recently. A solar panel
manufacturer recommended this place to me, and I ended up totally
happy with the sales and service of Your Energy Solutions.

Jim was both responsive and very patient with me during the sales process.
I do a LOT of research on any purchase, and debated on the system
size and between panels of several manufacturers. Jim is very willing
to work with you to customize almost anything, and also helped me
out on pricing to meet my budget constraints. The guidance he gave
me was first rate, far superior to many of the other companies I got
quotes from.

Lou led all the technical aspects of the installation. His knowledge and
customer orientation are superb. I received everything that was
committed to me, and the quality of the work was good. The city
inspection was passed the first time with no issues.

Please be aware that this is a small company, so things may slow
down when they are busy, but rest assured they will take care of you.

Thanks for a job well done! I'm glad to be doing my part to use clean
energy, and also looking forward to my reduced electricity bills.

When I decided to look into solar panels for my house to help offset my electric bills, I started with a list from the BBB website and Yelp and Angie's list reviews. I wound up with 7 quotes for different systems. After talking with a number of contractors, I chose Your Energy Solutions (YES), and I'm glad I did for a number of reasons. My wife and friends tease me about being a compulsive shopper - I always research extensively before I buy anything expensive. That's what led me to YES, and I'm now convinced that it was time well spent.
First, I got to deal with Jim (co-owner, handled all the contracting and paperwork) and Lou (engineer, designed and oversaw all technical aspects of installation) directly, not just a sales rep. Some of the other companies were rather pushy and gave me questionable information, but I always felt I was getting an honest appraisal with YES, and they didn't push me to buy more than I needed or try to tell me that the type (microinverters vs central inverters) were "the best" - both have advantages and disadvantages, but either technology will work fine. YES carries both types of systems, so you can get a side-by-side comparison of the pros and cons without all the sales slant. I was leaning toward the microinverter system since it would be easier to upgrade later, but Jim offered me such a good deal on a central inverter system that I was able to get a substantially larger output system for less money, and decided to go that way.
I also decided to thermal barrier in the attic and the whole house fan. They really made a difference - I hardly had to run my AC this summer, only on a few hot days. The whole house fan really cools my house off quickly, with minimal electric usage. With the credit for PG&E for the "extra" electricity I sell back to the system during the middle of the day, my electric bills have been running less than $50 a month since I got the system put in. I've been monitoring my output, and it's right where it was projected to be. Can't complain about the system performance.
The installation was flawless - they installed the system and routed the wiring just as we agreed (on time!), painted the conduit to match the house, and you can hardly see it. Very professional - all the conduit bends match the house, anchored securely, etc. The Livermore inspector told me it looked like a top-notch job to him as well.
YES has a storefront in Pleasanton where you can go see the equipment in advance, so you get no surprises when it's delivered. Jim and Lou met me there on a weekend when they would normally be closed to accommodate my schedule, which I really appreciated since I don't have a lot of spare time during the week. It's nice to know they have a place you can go see them if you've got a problem instead of just working out of a car. Made me much more comfortable that they were in the business for the long haul.
I checked references - everyone I spoke with was happy. Good reviews on the BBB site and Yelp. After dealing with them, I can see why.
They do provide low up-front cost lease options, but if you can afford to buy yourself you'll save a lot more money over time. They offered a lot of financing choices to chose from, so even if you don't have any money up front you can still get a system basically for free and cut your electric bill substantially. Jim even provided a sample tax form to claim credit on my taxes when I file next year, so I wouldn't have to guess or hire a preparer just to be sure I was filling it out right.
Overall, I have a hard time pointing to any negatives in my dealing with YES. Not only did they make me comfortable dealing with them, they gave me what I'm convinced was the best deal around, and kept their word on verbal commitments even when I didn't have it in writing. It was just a positive experience all around, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Note: I did tell them up front that I would be reviewing their work afterward, but I did not receive any special consideration for doing so and I have no relationship with this company except this one purchase.

I like energy solutions because they were able to come down to the price that I found was reasonable. I checked other solar companies and that's how I came up with what I thought was an acceptable price for the job. they also did what they said where they were going to do and when they were going to do it. their workers were neat clean and respectable. they're a great company

They have the choice of some of the best newest microinverters. I really appreciated that. I interviewed probably five different companies and I liked them because they are a local company. Other companies were out of state and contracted with people. They are not the cheapest but they have the best warranty. I had a problem with one of the inverters about a year in and they took care of it quickly.

Professional service and great pricing. The sales rep was patient to explain the details of different solar system installation options. We had a slight issue with the install for which I had to intervene but once resolved, it went smoothly.

After getting bids from eight different firms, Your Energy Solutions came in with the second best price but the best equipment and guarantees. They installed the equipment efficiently and on time as promised. The company was great to work with.

The micro-inverter technology your energy solutions uses is definitely the latest and better than what their competitors are offering. I had heard about them from my neighbors. I was pleased that they completed what they promised and got it installed within a day.

When selecting an installer like Your Energy Solutions consider:

Experience and Reputation:

Look for a company with a solid track record and years of experience in the solar industry. Read the latest Your Energy Solutions solar reviews from past customers to gauge their reputation.

Ensure the installer holds the necessary licenses and certifications required in your area. Look for certifications from organizations like the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) to verify their expertise.

Warranty Information:

Understand the warranties they offer for equipment and workmanship. A reputable installer should provide comprehensive warranties. The majority of modern solar panels are equipped with a warranty spanning 20 to 30 years, encompassing both the product's integrity and its energy output. An ordinary workmanship warranty offered by a certified company typically provides coverage for solar panels for an average period of 10 years.

Transparent Pricing and Contracts:

Get detailed solar quotes that include all costs, from equipment and labor to permits and inspections. Review the contract carefully to ensure it's clear and transparent, with no hidden fees or surprises.

Local Knowledge:

Choose a company familiar with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. This can expedite the installation and ensure compliance.

Customized Design:

Look for companies who provide custom solar system designs tailored to your specific energy needs and property characteristics.

Energy Production Estimates:

The installer should provide accurate estimates of how much energy the system will generate, factoring in local climate conditions and other key influences. If your estimated solar savings are much higher with one solar company, you'll want to inquire further to ensure their savings projections aren't skewed to close the sale. Connect with us for a free estimate.

Financing Options:

Inquire about solar financing options, including purchase, lease, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Ensure you know the pros and cons of each option.

Customer Service:

Assess their responsiveness and willingness to answer your questions and concerns and consider the installer's commitment to your project satisfaction. Throughout your solar process we’ll advocate for you, ensuring your solar project is done right.

References and Recommendations:

Seek recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have installed solar panels. Ask the installer for references from past clients who can share their experiences. You can also read the latest reviews on Your Energy Solutions.

Multiple Quotes:

Don't hesitate to obtain quotes from multiple installers to compare pricing, services, and warranties. Hint: We can help!

Financing and Incentive Knowledge:

Ensure the installer is knowledgeable about available incentives, tax credits, rebates and financing options. At EnergyPal, we’ll help maximize your savings.

Safety Practices:

Steps for Installing Solar Panels

 • Qualification: Contact solar companies through web forms, referrals, or flyers. Answer questions to determine eligibility.
 • System Design: Receive initial solar system design in a proposal. Review the design and consider panel placement, avoiding “under-sizing“ or “oversizing.“
 • Compare Quotes: Evaluate quotes, considering factors like monthly payments, power output, and system details. Seek guidance to simplify the comparison.
 • Contract Signing: Select a company and panel design, understand and sign the contract.
 • Site Survey: Technician assesses the site for solar panel installation, checking roof orientation and structural integrity.
 • Engineering: Behind-the-scenes process finalizes system layout, electrical configuration, and structural safety for permit submission.
 • Permitting: The company obtains necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
 • Installation: Expert team mounts panels, installs wiring and inverters, connects the system to the grid.
 • System Activation: Request final inspections, obtain permission to operate (PTO) from the utility, and turn on the system. Monitoring apps track power generation. From a signed contract to installation and system activation this process can take two to six months to complete. Check out our article for a more indepth look into the solar installation process.
